Slices of Light
This week, I am focusing on the marvelous gemstone wonder that is quartz: the second most abundant mineral in the Earth's continental crust, quartz appears in an abundance of colors, one stone never the same from the other. The surprise of quartz makes designing with it a joy-and this week I'm sharing with you a collection of some of my favorite discoveries and pieces:
Three teardrop earrings topped with my signature double seed earwire setting (see below) -- and a dramatic pair (bottom right), inspired by a line Gabrielle designed for Tiffany's Iridesse few years ago, featuring faceted rutilated quartz nuggets, framed in gold and enhanced by a fringe of freshwater pearls, citrine and tourmaline, a feat of craft and creativity. A truly special earring that is nonetheless the perfect neutral to wear every day.
Next, shards of color: Citrine drops (top right) are a glamorous classic, beautifully rich and golden, and a perfectly cut, perfectly matched pair.
Next, olive quartz triangle slices set into a dangle, smooth and refractive, these are a classic cut and size and made for you if you are a green-loving girl such as myself.
And last, the elongated teardrops: a gorgeous oro verde quartz, bearing a single, dramatic slash of smoky quartz within. The seed setting is the perfect reminder that all of this comes from nature, a gift of beauty for us to enjoy, every day.
Enjoy this Tuesday sale!
